Attack of the ledgers

something we have noticed here on the ISB campus and india in general is they like to use ledgers and have people sign in anywhere possible. i assume it's a relic of the british raj, but we're surprised they haven't gotten things more electronic by now, especially considering how many software and tech companies are setting up shop here. the best example is in our cafeteria where there are 7 different forms depending on if you are a student, teacher, administrator, spouse, walk-in, etc. mind you, we have id cards that are scannable, but the ledgers still rule.
