24 hour email cycle

One thing at ISB that's been hard for me to adjust to is having to check my email ten bazillion times a day.

Everyone here seems to email ALL the time about EVERYTHING. This isn't really that problematic (because I delete 90% of it), but it's difficult when there's an email at 11:50 am with a file that I need to download for my 12:30 pm class, and I'm in class from 10:15 am to 12:15 pm. The campus has wi-fi, but it's turned off within the classrooms. So usually it means I'm trying to download data while running in the hallways. It seems that "you sent the email 30 minutes before class so I couldn't get the data in time" or "who reads their email at 4 am??" isn't really a valid excuse because apparently there ARE students checking email at 4 am and while running between classes!

I think the most irritating aspect to me is not really the checking of the email, it's just that the 24 hour email cycle is really not necessary - this is school, not work! I would expect that lesson plans for the term have already been somewhat fleshed out, and it just doesn't seem that it should be necessary to pass information along for the next day's class at the last minute.

Would this bother you too? ... maybe it's just me. ;)

Hi Shirley and Grantland! Just wanted to pop in to say Hello and let you guys know I'm cyber-stalking you. :) I love reading your daily updates. I'm glad to read things are going well (with the exception of getting your classes, Shirls) and that you're getting the chance to do a little sightseeing. So fun! I miss you!

Yes, that sounds very annoying. I'm sure their youth will have an epidemic of ADHD. Sounds a lot like my boss who calls me immediately after sending me an e-mail asking me if I read the e-mail.
